About

Intensive course for those looking to gain knowledge and experience in game design. You’ll learn how to design games and develop game prototypes using proven tools and techniques. You’ll also increase your employability, expand your knowledge and meet new colleagues and professionals in the field.

On completion of the course you will:

  • be able to design and describe games, learning about the environment, characters, rules, mechanics and business models
  • become familiar with the techniques and tools used for developing game prototypes and the specifics of studio work

How it works

The course consists of 9 evenings with a total of 18 hours and one day-long session consulting and pitching your project.

Each lesson focuses on one topic, which is developed through a series of short exercises aimed at gaining practical experience. Between lessons, participants work continuously on a project.

If you have a game project in development you can bring it to the course and further develop it with the help of the mentor.

The course is ended with one long day session, during which there would be time for final project consultations. You will also pitch your project in front of others, invited guests from the gaming industry and get feedback.

The workshop responds to the current demand of domestic developer studios for game producers and production managers. According to a survey carried out by the Association of Czech Game Developers, game studios constantly look for experienced professionals with advanced knowledge of game production and design.

The salary of a game designer usually starts at 45,000 CZK per month.

Selection criteria

The workshop is intended for motivated enthusiasts, students, and professionals who want to expand their knowledge.

Candidates should ideally have:

  • Previous experience with playing computer and mobile phone games
  • Work experience in the field of culture production management, animation or software development.
  • Interest in studying new approaches to audio-visual production in all its forms.

Participants should have basic knowledge in the fields of creative writing and the fine arts and have experience with project management.
