Making films will soon stop being a question of budget. Infrastructure and delivery timelines that once cost hundreds of thousands are becoming accessible for the price of a subscription. Production is, in many ways, becoming democratized — yet the market is being flooded with content that lacks clear directorial intent.

At the same time, studios are adding AI tools to their pipelines faster than they understand what those tools actually do. Integration without systems thinking creates chaos — incompatible outputs, duplicated work, failures that nobody can explain cleanly.

The Gap

Anyone can generate images. Directing — understanding what something should mean, and why, from the big story down to the smallest choice in a shot — requires someone who has been inside production. That kind of visual judgment and supervision cannot be prompted.
And anyone can learn a new tool. Nobody teaches how to think about a pipeline as a system — where every decision has downstream consequences.
This Track addresses both gaps in sequence: first the creative judgment, then the structural thinking.

Track Logic — Why This Order

Week 1–2

AI Film Production Sprint · Brendon Webb · 2 weeks

You make a film. You take a storyboard through AI-driven production and deliver a finished short using local, open-source pipelines. You work inside a team structure that mirrors real production: defined roles, iterative feedback, continuity management, delivery standards. You hit the walls personally — continuity breaks, version chaos, integration failures.

WHAT WE TRAIN

How to remain the creative director of a project when AI handles execution — preserving intent, visual consistency, and the final call on every shot. How to build an AI pipeline with local tools and open-source models, so you can stay independent and keep your work secure.

Week 3–4

AI Pipeline Architecture Lab · Chris Gallagher · 2 weeks

You understand the system. You analyze how real studio pipelines function at scale. You map dependencies, identify bottlenecks, and define where AI meaningfully supports workflow — and where it creates risk.

Making a film first means every pipeline concept in the second half maps to something you experienced. You do not learn systems in theory. You learn them because you needed them two weeks ago.

WHAT WE TRAIN

Where pipelines break, why they break, and how to design structures that survive real production — not ideal conditions. Strategic AI integration: where it accelerates, where it creates risk, and how to build systems that remain stable under change.

Bootcamp details

Where You End Up

An indie filmmaker with their own working pipeline. A pipeline lead or technical director. The person a studio calls when production stops working — or the person a team builds around.

What You Shift (Combined)

A finished AI-driven short film and a documented pipeline architecture analysis. Operational skill plus structural understanding. The combination is what studios and independent productions actually need — someone who can both build and think about the system they are building inside.

I am a firm believer that no matter how many years you've been animating, there are always things to learn. Even though I've been working in films for a long time, I knew I could come here and get a lot out of it.

TRAVIS TOHILL

Lead Animator
Anomalia was crucial in shaping my professional career. It gave me the knowledge, experience, and mindset of a creative professional. The contacts and relationships I made during the Anomalia courses vastly improved my chances of getting jobs, as Anomalia was often a direct source of them.

DAVID SVOBODA

Technical artist
It's fun to get in this environment again because it keeps you excited about what you're doing. It keeps your perspective positive and you realize how fortunate you are to have this job.

TREVIS TOHILL

Lead animator, Epic Games
The lab-like intensive nature of the course is quite different from most and I think very helpful, as the absence of daily life distractions creates the time and focus to solve problems – and then create some more.

SOFIA LACERDA

FX artist
Bootcamp exceeded my expectations. Benoit is a great mentor; he has a great attitude. I can ask anything; he explains it very well. If someone still doesn't get it, he tries a different approach.

TOM VAJGL

Technical director, 2K Czech
The mentors are really experienced and help to transfer their knowledge directly. I don't have to spend much time searching, trying, and learning.

MAO PORRAS

VFX artist
I'm motivated the same way I was last year, except now I already know how awesome it's going to be and how much I can learn! I can't wait for another week full of teamwork, inspiration, and improvement! Character Design Labs 2023 (returning in 2024).

JOY ALISSA ERB

Character Design Artist
I attended the World Building course last year with Tara Rueping and I enjoyed it very much. I find Anomalia's environment to be very welcoming and stimulating. Therefore, I will join the World Building once again this year.

ALIDA PINTUS

Concept artist
The labs broadened my horizons, and I learned more than expected. Before attending, I could draw and animate in 2D at a decent level. Now, I grasp the basics of 3D and regularly apply Unreal Engine 5. The in-person format provides an invaluable opportunity for personal contact and networking, which one can benefit from for years to come.

JAROSLAV KLIMEŠ

2D animator
I had no experience with UE5, just industry-standard software such as Maya. Anomalia Labs involved me in creating the Unreal Engine from scratch. I could quickly develop my skills in a professional environment with high-end professionals from abroad. Right after the lab, I landed a job as a layout artist for an upcoming feature film. All layout work on this project is done in Unreal.

JAKUB BROKL

3D animator
Within two weeks I learned five or six things that would have taken me years to figure out alone.

LUKE

Animation artist
Anomalia is the only company offering a course like this. There's no course in the US that really breaks down what AI is and contextualizes it within a VFX 3D animation workflow.

LUCAS

VFX artist
The course is led by a real-life professional working on a daily basis with the world-leading VFX projects, such as Hollywood movies or Netflix shows. The conditions are excellent and two weeks are a substantial dose of training.
